Ali Scattergood

Founder | Director | Filmmaker

Ali opened Oak Light Films doors in 2018 after moving to the west coast.

Ali is a documentary filmmaker and photographer. With experience in filmmaking and photography projects around the world, Ali worked both in production and post production with Ken Burns and the team at Florentine Films on a variety of projects including The Mayo Clinic: Faith, Hope, Science, Emmy Nominated Series The Story of Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, The Biography of Jackie Robinson, The Address, and Emmy Nominated mini series The Vietnam War. In 2019 she worked in post on several series for Nomadica Films. Nomadica projects include: “Izzy’s Koala World: Season 1 & 2”, a Netflix original series, and BYU.TV’s “Wizard of Paws: Season 1”, two productions designed to instill a sense of empathetic agency in young people regarding the care of our natural environment and the living creatures we share it with. Both shows premiered in Summer and Spring 2020, respectively.

Ali’s photography work has exhibited in shows and publications across the United States and France. She has been fortunate enough to photograph public figures including Spiritual Leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, musician Wynton Marsalis, Filmmaker Ken Burns, Author and Physician Siddhartha Mukherjee, and the Martha Graham Dance Company. In 2019, Ali was hired as a photo journalist for the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
